If you want to offer a panoramic view of a certain genre—or several—in an album format, the best option is to find a credited insider (in this case, two) of the scene in question to select the content. It could’ve been Gilles Peterson, the boss, the brain behind the WorldWide label, but he’s a generous guy and so he assigned Belgium’s Lefto and Londoner Simbad to the job. Lefto and Simbad are the curators of a compilation album featuring 27 exclusive tracks oscillating between nu-soul, post-dubstep, future punk and abstract beatmaking. Honouring it’s name and overall spirit, the compilation includes artists from the U.K., Belgium, Germany, the U.S., France, Japan, Turkey, Croatia, Austria and Puerto Rico, a reflection of the sonic melting pop that defines WorldWide. The album will be released in early December (no definite date as yet) via Brownswood Records, Peterson’s label.
